Brief
Students will create a design board for a 30-second looping ad for Selby Botanical Gardens and develop a comprehensive process deck to develop their research and pitch their idea. The animation pitch will consist of three distinct yet interconnected environments that focus on a faculty and student selected theme. After a couple of design exercises, students will gather research at the Selby Botanical Gardens to create sophisticated and refined illustrated graphics utilizing modular design to generate a unifying yet diverse shape language.

Process
Before visiting the gardens, I explored various exercises to approach abstraction and modular design, using photographs I had taken as reference. This process enabled me to develop the ability to identify and deconstruct similar shapes across multiple objects, supporting the creation of a cohesive shape language that would contribute to more effective and harmonious modules.

Process
After visiting the gardens, I took reference photos of different creatures and plant life to base my modular designs off of. Using the same process for my practice photos, I made abstract designs of the different required photographs, then proceeded to find similar shapes among the drawings.

First Pass
Starting different layouts, but changes some around to accommodate better eye flow.
Later removed outlines with solid shapes, except for small details, like the leaves.
Needed to make room for interconnecting environments in between each style frame.
